Hi, I’m Beth Rue!

I became a therapist over 10 years ago and continue to fall in love with it! I grew up in a home where trauma shaped my family, and I knew that there had to be more ways to live than just “getting by.” I went to school to be a social worker and through my own healing journey, it became clear that I’m here to heal and help others heal.

I started working with homeless and addiction populations early in my career. While a therapist at a treatment program, I became “Yoga Beth” where I brought Holistic Wednesdays to group therapy each week with my yoga training. I eventually became a Clinical Supervisor of Addiction Outpatient Programs before I realized that I missed the one-to-one relationship of being a therapist.

Today, I work with a wide range of mental health symptoms and I’m most passionate about helping others heal from trauma, both the big things that shape our lives and those that grew up in chronic trauma (abuse, neglect, other, etc…). I use tools of EMDR, somatic based practices, mindfulness, etc… as they are evidenced based and dynamic in helping people who have been stuck in cycles for years.

We work together to get you from stuck in your head to listening to your heart, where most of the hurt happened… and most of the healing needs to happen too.

As a therapist, I work with symptoms of anxiety, depression, panic attacks, ADD, OCD, grief, trauma, complex trauma, body image issues, managing stress, relationship distress, as well as mild to moderate substance addiction.

Populations I’m passionate about supporting are: college and higher ed students, family members and individuals impacted by addiction, veterans and their families, people in the helping profession, the highly sensitive people (HSP population), creatives and sensitive folk, analytical-types who feel trapped, introverts who don’t know how to live more comfortably in this world, people who’ve been avoiding through various forms of numbing, those who've been suffering with depression or anxiety since youth, etc…

As part of the mindfulness services I offer, I can provide tailored meditations, chakra based meditations, provide 1:1 yoga services, and coaching in my “living more mindfully” program.

As a group facilitator, I provide a dynamic and open presence, guiding members to talk about hard or sensitive subjects in a way that feels safe and supportive. This can be adapted to a corporate setting where it is more about team building and self-care for the staff.

"On a personal level, I’m a nature lover and outdoor enthusiast - I enjoy kayaking, skiing, hiking, or a relaxing picnic. I love to write, listen to podcasts, live music, play the guitar, take a self-care bath and challenge myself to grow! My friends and family think I'm quirky and I tend to be a sensitive soul myself, so all the creative types, I feel you!"

My Approach

You come as you are and we’ll talk about who you are, what got you here, what you’re looking for, what you hope for, etc… We become a team as we explore what has worked for you, what hasn’t, and learn new ways to lower your walls, practice vulnerability, and blossom.

Therapy approaches

First off, I’m a person too - and an imperfect one at that. I come into the therapeutic relationship as a therapist who is utterly human. Moments of laughter, silence, uncertainty… they’re all part of the process of working with me.

My educational background is in Social Work with my BSW from Temple University and my MSS from Bryn Mawr University. I am an LCSW in the state of PA license #CW018905.

As a social worker, I consider the whole person and their environment: culture, family background, education, influences, etc…. I am trained in EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Insight-Oriented Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, Somatic-based therapy, Family Systems, and trauma work. I am furthering my skills training in IFS and other integrative based practices that help with trauma.

I have provided EMDR 101 Continuing Ed training in March 2024 and have a passion for teaching this dynamic tool to other therapists as I hope to see it’s reach grow as it has been so life changing for my clients and even in my own personal life.

Wellness approaches

I received both my 200 hr and 300 hr yoga (500 YTT) training through Yoga on Main in Philadelphia, PA 2015 and 2018. I taught Recovery Yoga at an outpatient addictions facility in Doylestown, PA and created a chakra based yoga program. I have been incorporating personalized meditations, guided imagery, and mindfulness training into my work for over 10 years as a therapist. I can offer this as part of any of the work I do.

Helping the helpers

While working with treatment facilities, I became a Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director of other therapists for over three years. I enjoy helping those who help others; exploring how we can enhance our work and get out of our own way. If you are in the healthcare field or are a therapist looking for a therapist who understands the demands you face, come my way!
